That’s why I created Alive Nature: to share the way I observe and paint the natural world, and to help you bring more depth, confidence and feeling into your own work.

Inside the course, I’ll welcome you into my process and guide you step by step through observation, colour, brushwork and painting botanicals and fruit in oils. My goal isn’t for you to simply copy what I do, but to give you the tools to see more clearly and develop paintings that feel like your own.

Hey, I'm Alonsa!

 

I’m a Chilean-American artist and oil painter inspired by the beauty, mystery, and aliveness of the natural world. My work is rooted in close observation of fruit, botanicals, light, texture, and atmosphere, and sharing this process online has brought together a community of 80K+ people on Instagram who connect with this way of seeing and painting nature.

Over the years, my work has been exhibited internationally and featured in publications including Forbes, Time Out NYC, VICE, and The National News UAE.

I hold an MFA from the New York Academy of Art, and alongside my own studio practice, I’ve spent years supporting and mentoring other artists, including through my 4-week mentorship and accountability program.

Through that experience, I’ve developed an approach to painting that brings together technique and intuition, structure and feeling, and realism with personal expression. That balance is at the heart of the way I paint, and the way I teach.
